I took the car out for a change today and had a run
around the local reservoirs hoping some Black Terns might be blown in.
It was a cold day with a temperature of 8° and a sharp north easterly breeze.
I think the cold weather kept a lot of the birds out
of sight?
It was a real pleasure to bump into ROD P. and his
missus, at Leeshaw.
We managed to right all the worlds’ wrongs in the
space of 15 minutes.
I can’t see why we aren’t part of the government
think tank.

There is hardly any shoreline with the reservoir
full to capacity.
I really should use a scope here but find using a scope a pain.
The usual stuff was knocking about today with
nothing to write home about.
Greylag Goose in good numbers, Lapwing, Meadow
Pipit, Cuckoo
calling regularly but far off, 3 Oystercatcher, Curlew, Swallow, 4 or so Swift,
Pheasant, c40 Canada Geese in the higher fields – did not spot a Barnacle among
them.
2 Cormorant > W.

Very, very quiet with just 2 Canada Geese and a
large Gull far off.
It looks like there is Oystercatcher nesting on the reservoir
building. An Oyc was flying back and forth during my visit.

A good check round of the reservoirs John, we badly need some shoreline
ReplyDeleteJust Common Sand to speak of really.

Could still be there of course, under the banking, out of sight.
Have a good weekend.
