It was a bright and breezy afternoon and I had a
local walk today.
There was not a lot happening but it was good to be
out and about.
A family of Wren were in the Bradshaw Park bushes
and 20 Canada geese were in the nearby fields.
A lone Swift was seen earlier in the day and there
were c20 Swallow on the way to O.R. and 12 or so Swallow feeding above the
fields behind the factory.
3 Mistle Thrush were on a field wall and 16 or so
Small Gulls were in the fields mostly Common Gulls.
Just a single Meadow Pipit seen on the way down and
the ponds held 2 Moorhen, 2 Mallard and a Heron was seen 3 times (I guess it
was the same one).
As the Heron left the scene a Kestrel (I think) left
with it.
The photo is poor.
A second Kestrel was soaring over windy Bank Lane.
2 Jay squawked as they headed for cover and there
was a couple of Greenfinch, a calling Bullfinch and a Chiffchaff hereabouts.
A Grey Wagtail flew over and there was a Wren in
full song and that was about it.
A kestrel leaving the scene (I think) - poor pic.
Looking across the fields from Holdworth towards the Raggalds
Looks like butterfly is a Small Skipper John. Love the juvenile Wren as well.
