Snow stops the job

We awoke this morning to 3 or 4 inches of snow and the weather did it's best to snow off and on all day.

After shifting it we headed to ASDA.
I kept a peeper out for Waxwings, but ASDA car park doesn't seem to have the right berries.

While in ASDA the snow made a comeback.

Coming out of ASDA car park, a car driver with snow covered windscreen failed to see us - no surprise there then - and we anchored on, and all was well.

Coming home via a clogged up Queen's Road, a car came out of a side street and bumped into a car on the main road.
We were a good few cars back and we managed to turn around to escape before the road got even more clogged up with drivers details being exchanged.

Arriving home, a second stint of snow shifting was needed to get the car safely parked up.

After lunch some more white stuff came along followed by a brighter interlude.

Ah! I thought - the last of stuff - so I shifted it for the 3rd time.

I decided to take the camera and walk up to Taylor Lane and on to Raggalds Flood.
When I got to Taylor Lane, Raggalds looked bathed in mist so I headed back home ... and it started to snow.

There were few birds about as you would expect.

A Blackbird was in our garden enjoying the Meal Worms I'd lobbed out.
A few Starlings were on the Pylon Wires.
A good number of House Sparrows were flitting from Dan Branch's garden to the nearby privets.
A Chaffinch was in a tree opposite.

Some kids were enjoying the snow though, sledging down a steep field below Roper Lane, and laughing loudly.

A bit of a non event today ...... a bit like this blog and accompanying pictures!!

  1. The snow came for you to get some practice in for when you set off to the North Pole John, what with you being one of santa's little helpers. You'll find the the Snow Bunting soon mate.
