A decent day, weather wise, today with some brightness although it was windy and cold on Soil Hill Top.
I just had an hour or so to spare, with Abigail and Emma here for the weekend.
It was an enjoyable hour though, with both Little Owls picked up on the way to the hill.
A great bonus for me was that of a Reed Bunting heard calling and then spotted on the mast railings.
It was being buffeted by the strong wind but it was kind enough to hang on in there for a photo.
I dropped some Nyger seed on the main path, and thought I'd give the gravelly area by the HUGE turbine by the O.S. column, a try for Snow Bunt.
A bird did settle on the wall ,nearby, it was in silhouette , a Meadow Pipit.
Funny how a Meadow Pipit in summer barely gets a glimpse, but in winter when there's next to nowt about it commands your attention!
Looking west from the O.S. column, a small bird was seen briefly dropping from the farthest field wall.
I checked the area on my return route and I was pleased to pick up a Stonechat.
A pleasing time out today with a few 'spicier' birds than I've had of late.
