We've had Abigail and Emma for a couple of days but I managed to slope off late this afternoon for an hour on Soil Hill.
A new year and an old walk, up and around Soil Hill.
A brief glimpse of B.S. was had, as he headed off west over the mounds, while I chose to go east to the Ordnance Column.
I've decided the Ordnance Column area is where I'm going to see the Snow Bunting - the Snow Bunting has yet to cotton on though - it's probably still in Scotland.
But .... the weather had a change of clothing today.
Today there was a strongish North breeze making the snoozle run a bit.
2 Little Owl were seen on the way up to Soil Hill (thank goodness).
A small flock of Starling were feeding with 8 Fieldfare and a solitary Common Gull, in the Taylor Lane area.
Soil Hill was tough going again.
A Dunnock and a fly-over of 2 Meadow Pipit were seen in the Ordnance Column area with c30 Starling in fields elsewhere.
A tad lighter this evening, but it was dark as I got home at 16:15.
Happy New Year to everyone - last year my target bird was a Merlin and I was well chuffed to get a pic of one at Leeshaw.
This year my target bird is a Lesser Spotted Woodpecker - say a few prayers for me please or maybe a full rosary - all the best John.
