√Skipton

We had a day out at Skipton today where it was very cold in the morning,  during our walk around Skipton woods, but it warmed up nicely when we took a look at the market stalls.

Not a lot happening in the woods, we failed to locate a Dipper or a Kingfisher today.

Arriving back at the car park a Raptor was being mobbed by another bird, a Corvid?

The flap, flap glide made me think that the Raptor is a Sparrowhawk?

The Corvid, however, is a mystery and could it possibly be a Buzzard? Or Raven?

When seen from below there is a lot of light in the under wings but on a bright sunny day like today perhaps a Corvid would show light under wings.

So I most probably have a Carrion Crow and a Sparrowhawk.

Ah! well - it's beyond me to ID either accurately.

  1. Looks like a Crow to me John, Ravens usually have a diamond shaped tail I think, the raptor I can't tell so I'll go Sparrohawk like you, hope you had a good day out in Skipton anyway mate.

  2. I'm still thinking Raven Dave.
There is a massive difference in the size of the two birds.
