Photos from a pub window (mostly)

Hollingworth Lake.

We decided to take Emma on a train journey today from Sowerby Bridge to Littleborough, call at the Waterside Wine Bar/ Restaurant, just across the road from the station, grab some lunch and get the train back again.

Easy logistics for the wheelchair etc.

We checked the opening times of the Bar, on their website, 12 noon and off we went with our 20 odd quit paid to British Rail.

(did you not look before you went, did you not  ......... as some would say over this way).

The bar however wasn't playing ball and it was shut.

Luckily the weather, which had been grimsville forever, was dry today with some bright spells, allowing us a longish wheelchair push up th'ill to Hollingworth Lake.

The effort was rewarded with a window seat in The Wine Press Inn looking over the lake and some decent scran for lunch.

We did not have time for a look around the lake, the cold weather not agreeing with Emma, so some duff (ish) photos, some of birds were on the small pond, on the way up , but a lot of (poor) photos were  taken through the pub window!

Birds:-

M/F Teal, Cormorant, Robin, Mute Swan, Black Headed Gull, Canada Goose, Mallard, M/F Goosander and a few more no doubt!

Female Teal I believe

Cropped - a little better

Robin of the day

Cormorants (with others?) far off in the distance

Looks like rain - but stayed fine

Passing M. Goosander I believe

Cropped - not much better

At least I can ID these -M/F Goosander

Canada Geese with unid in front

Cropped but too far off to Id this front bird with this poor photo

The small pond on the way up from the station

Studley Dudley from the train

Police officers admit to finding no evidence on the roof.
