My allergy to early mornings had to be shelved today with a 5:30am alarm call.
It is a good job Sue loves driving, as we had to take my sister to Jimmy's hospital in Leeds City centre for an 8:30am PET Scan appointment.
I don't like driving, and certainly not in Leeds city centre in rush hour, but it is no problem for Sue.
Anyway we left Halifax at 6:45am and got to Leeds at 8:10 ish - the motorway seems jam packed all the time these days (I'm beginning to sound like me grandad).
Later in the afternoon we had a walk from Bradshaw up to the Raggalds, down past the Junction Inn at Scholes, up the cycle/old railway line to Queensbury and along Denholmegate road home.
Late afternoon and we broke rule 10, calling in at the Raggalds Inn for a thirst quencher - where the place was buzzing!
On some Wednesdays they have a 'do' on.
2 course lunch, live singer and Bingo -
(Legs 11 .... 'Wheet Woo-oh ... How do you spell a whistle?).
All for £7.95 (bookings reqd) - starts at 12noon(ish) finishes at 16:00. (ish).
There was plenty of laughter coming from the punters!!
It was supposed to be mild today but I found it freezing at the hill top in the strong wind.
Not a lot of birds seen.
3 Pied Wagtail near the Raggalds - back for the spring/summer.
4 Lapwings - one offering up a nest site to a potential mate.
2 Bullfinch calling along the cycle track.
A few Goldfinch and c40 Woodpigeon near home.
A. couple of large Gulls over and lots of common Gulls in the fields.
Where are all the Kestrels??
Today's childish joke:
I met a Dutch girl, wearing inflatable shoes, last week.
I phoned her up to arrange a date, but alas she had popped her clogs.
A bit of colour - I like gorse (or whin) or whatever this plant is!
Not too sure about this Gull - possible Herring Gull
Ist of 3 information plaques - Keighley Junction
Common Gull I believe.
Halifax Junction info.
Queensbury Station Info.
Baildon in the distance
Like the joke mate, I've been thinking the same thing about the Kestrels but one showed up later on in the day in the back field, first time for ages.
