Bradshaw to Haworth

A near repeat performance of last Tuesday's walk, however we had a new and improved bus schedule in mind for the return journey.

We took the usual route through Bradshaw Farms over to Ogden and up Back Lane.
The long hike over the moors to Oxenhope Reservoir (TMR) was pleasant in the sunshine.

It was very boggy in places as we went down past Leeming Reservoir (11:20) and and along the stream to Oxenhope Steam Railway.

We had a change of route here, Sue wanting to avoid the boggy stream path, and we opted to cross the railway line and head steeply uphill to Bents Lane.

Up Bents Lane and a left and right, on Oxenhope Old Lane brought us to Oxenhope Old Farm.
Through the farmyard and a right turn to follow field walls soon brought us out a Haworth Church (12:45).

Birds:-

Sparrowhawk near Ned Hill Road.
Curlew calling 1 mile up Back Lane.
5 Red Grouse seen / heard on the moors before Oxenhope Reservoir.

A Dipper on the Leeming Reservoir feeder stream.
A second  Sparrowhawk  was near Bents Farm with c25 Greylag Geese in the fields and 3 high, airborne.

A domesticated hen and 3 chicks were dismantling the flowers in the Haworth Churchyard but no one seemed to mind.

Buses:-
A great improvement on last weeks fiasco.
14:00 Number 664 from Haworth to Crossroads.
14:14 Number 696 Crossroads to Denholme (via Cullingworth).
14:47 Number 504 Denholme to Halifax (via Bradshaw) - a short walk home.

Home at 15:15. Very cold now - is it going to snow?

Pool / Snooker at Tea-time - I'm due a win!!

First thing this morning there was a tap on my front door.

My plumber's Romanian and he doesn't understand a lot of English !!
