Sue dropped me at Ogden late afternoon.
A very cold NW wind was making Ogden Water on the choppy side, a real nose-runner.
For the first time that I can recall, there were Zero Gulls on the water on my arrival!
One Common Gull made a brief appearance before, it too, left.
Perhaps its my Christmas aftershave Sue got me from Poundland - Eau de Countryside.
With the Mallards there were 16 Canada Geese.
Just the usual smaller birds on the circuit / feeders.
A fly over of c40 Curlew was a very pleasing sight.
A Raven called from far over the water, above the west side conifers.
Then 2 Corvids appeared and landed far off - not sure if these are Raven probably Carrion Crow that emerged to give the Raven(s) grief - either way the initial call was that of a Raven.
A Jay was also seen hereabouts.
A flock of Fieldfare and a couple of Redwing flew over.
6 or so Siskin landed in the conifers.
Also flying over the car park was a Great Spotted Woodpecker.
Not a bad outing if you ignored the bitter wind.
Ripponden:
Earlier we had a walk from Ripponden Bowling Club, along the stream, to Holme House Lane, Rishworth.
Heavy, frequent, cold showers with lots of glorious mud spoiled the job though.
A singing Dipper was in the stream, which uplifted the spirits a bit.
Ogden:
Solitary Common Gull
The above long distance Corvid shots - probably Carrion Crow.
A bit choppy for Whitie
Robin of the Day
Curlew
Ripponden:
Nice Dipper and Curlews mate
