Shibden Park:
The usual (dry weather ) Sat. morning outing to Shibden Park with Emma in the wheelchair and Abi dashing through the mud and puddles in her pink wellies.
Usual birds about, 3 Swan (I managed to get the ring numbers of 2 of them). Nuthatch calling and a Song Thrush singing.
Pleasing to see Blue Tits flitting about - looked a bit springlike - watch the weather go and spoil it.
A Buzzard was high, very distant, over Northowram.
Soil Hill Area:
Late afternoon.
A sad sight awaited me on Taylor Lane of a dead Fox.
It was most probably hit by a car and made it into the field before it collapsed.
On the hill there was plenty of cold wind, and , here is me thinking,It will be too warm with my layers of clothing!
There were 6 or so Skylark and looking down to the Shay fields there was a large flock of Starling with maybe 6 Lapwing dotted about here and there.
A pleasing sight for Soil Hill was a flyover of a Mistle Thrush.
The lady at Stoney Royd Farm was a tad disgruntled - her hubby had gone through the main water pipe in his efforts to lay some fence posts.
There was a large flock of Fieldfare & Starlings feeding in the fields nearby.
Possibly as many as 100 Fieldfare in two groups.
Maybe they are getting ready for their trip north for the spring.
Shibden Park:
Poor Buzzard pics - too distant to be improved - even when cropped:-
Sad about the fox John, nice swan pics.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dave.
ReplyDeleteI know Foxes have a terrible reputation for killing bird life but it's still sad to see a dead animal.
John
They do it to survive John, cats do it for fun. I always like to see a fox but not like what you've seen today, it's a shame.
