Soil Hill - Awful timing (but a compensating Swallow)

9:30 - 11:10

A saunter up to and around Soil Hill seemed like a good idea this morning.
At Taylor Lane the cloud descended accompanied by heavy drizzle and cold with it.
This grot held my hand for the next hour of so.
Visibility was less than 200 yds on the top but things did improve.

A search for the Little in the gloom of Taylor Lane failed, but on the return a Pr. Little Owl were easier to see.

The 'scrub' land to the right of the lower NK pond has been 'improved' by a harrow by the looks of it!

A large wader type, was miles off on a lower track - a Curlew I suspect.
I've posted the awful pics .... just in case.

The usual birds were on the Hill - no Ring Ouzel or Wheatear, although I did wonder if the grim weather might have brought something down.

Lots of Meadow Pipit and Skylark (Skylarks were singing high in the fog, and, singing perched on a rock).

A few Canada Geese, Lapwing and a calling Curlew were hereabouts.

2 Stock Doves flew towards Ogden and an Oystercatcher called from the gloom, but I did not eyeball it.

Back home the sun came out and as I 'de-booted' outside, a Swallow flew low over the house - nice one - summer's here!

A Blackbird sheltering on the Threshing machine?

Grimsby with a capital G.

The mist lifted a good bit

Some lousy pics of a bird on a lower track - just in case it's not a Curlew:-

Lightened and cropped

Strange find - a flask top, with money in it - must be a sign, but of what?
Perhaps someone has been playing Beggar-My-Neighbour.

Both Little Owls
