Cold with rain at first but brightening into a half decent morning.
A solitary House Martin >SW.
A few Lesser Black Backed and Black Headed Gulls about with possibly a Yellow Legged Gull.
I scanned the walls looking for Little Owl, thinking that the rain might have kept him indoors, but I did pick one out - not in the 'normal' place.
C30 Meadow Pipit, Cormorant, Linnet.
A Kestrel was sheltering on a wall, awaiting better weather, with a few Meadow Pipits for company.
A Kestrel, Presumably, the same Kestrel was seen a bit later on.
2 very wet looking Pheasant were on a wall.
A juv. Stonechat popped up onto a wall, below the farm, took one look at me and popped off - not to be seen again.
I decided to go home via Fly Flats Road.
I stopped a couple of times and managed to pick out a Red Grouse.
Fly Flats:
I parked on the road above the reservoir (I dare not leave the car unattended) and soon spotted a Wheatear.
Brian V. Pulled up soon afterwards and I enjoyed a natter as we tried to ascertain how many Wheatear were flitting about here.
Brian had a scope which helped a lot.
We settled on a count of 5 Wheatear.
Other than these, there were a few Meadow Pipits and a Raven present - all seen from the roadside.
The water looked bereft of birds.
A solitary Canada Goose was seen above the sailing club.
Took this photo as the bird left the wall -
however there is a bird or two? high in the left hand corner.
Cropped below but I've no idea what I have here.
Juv Goldfinch maybe, maybe not
2 very wet Pheasant
Kestrel best buddy with Meadow Pipits
Yellow Legged Gull?
The weather's on the mend - I'm off
