√Ogden there and back

14:00 - 17:45

The usual saunter today, Taylor Lane, Percy Lane, Soil Hill and Ogden on a lovely sunny afternoon.
A car pulled up next to me on Percy Rd with 3 large menacing blokes inside, all staring at me.
I thought I was about to lose the bins and camera until I recognised the handsome three musketeers, Nigel, Dave and Dave.
Enjoyed the chat boys.

Birds:-

Not one of my best outings but enjoyable nonetheless.

Taylor Lane had 4 Blackbird, Pr. Dunnock and a Grey Wagtail all in the Midden area just after the first farm on the right.
I heard a loud thud and looked around and caught a glimpse of a Woodpigeon falling to earth.
It had hit the small wind turbine there.

c10 Swallows knocking about here also.

Soil Hill 14:35.

A good number of Meadow Pipit and c20 Goldfinch.
Kestrel, Heron on the NK pond with a pair of distant Mallard ducks and a Pr. Moorhen.
The heather is in bloom and looked in good shape.
Plenty of Woodpigeon in the lower fields with other birds, too distant to ID and a Kestrel overhead.

Coal Lane to Ogden Water.

Linnet, 18 Goldfinch, 3 Young Pheasant, Little Owl, Coat Tit.

Ogden Water 16:00

3 Cormorant and plenty of Gulls for me to look through and a pr. Tufted Duck.

Pr. Jay.

2 separate Sparrowhawk sightings then both birds were flying together above me.

A good scan along the 'coastline' as I did a circuit of the water revealed very little alas.

The homeward journey was via Syke Lane, Percy Road, Taylor Lane and Bradshaw Lane.

Common Gull and another Sparrowhawk over Bradshaw Lane towards Roper Lane.
A chance meeting with Daniel Branch turned out a bit of a cock-up as it was not Daniel but his brother.

Shame that, I was going to ask him to take a look at my 'Hobby' from Bedford and put me out of my miserly and tell me it was a Peregrine!

Anyway I enjoyed the chat.

Bright sunlight on the water, creating a great colour
