Raggalds - Deep Lane - Squirrel Lane - Crag Lane - Asa Nicholson's cafe - Ogden - Soil Hill.
A good leg stretcher on a decent day.
Raggalds flood had just one wall repair man.
Deep Lane 4/5 Grey Legged Partridge well camouflaged, Mistle Thrush.
12:30 ASA Nicholson's cafe had 2 Poached Eggs.
13:10 On the road again.
The Shay fields had 27 Lapwing and 75 Small Gulls.
I took the bridleway 400 yds south of Foreside Lane.
A bit boggy but interesting for future visits.
From here to Ogden:
Heron, 3 Pheasant.
14:00 Ogden Water.
A couple walking around the res. had seen the Kingfisher.
Not a lot here, 4 Canada Geese and a good few Goldcrest.
Great Spotted Woodpecker(heard as I crossed the prom.).
The plantation had 3 Red Legged Partridge that ran rather than flew when flushed.
Coal Lane: A large skein of Canada Geese passed just above my noggin.
15:15 Soil Hill
A Pr. Kestrel hunting over the top.
Possible Skylark flushed (tail as long as body, with white edges).
Another Red Legged Partridge, flushed and flew over a far wall.
Relocated it later, taking a peep at me.
A second Pr. Kestrel seen on Percy Road.
(They looked young, inexperienced flyers).
A Little Owl was in a distant tree, seen from Bradshaw Lane.
Then 9 small birds overhead with a really weak call that I think were Siskin.
Joke:
I was stopped by the police yesterday as I was driving my car.
Bobby: Can you blow into this bag sir?
Me: Why?
Bobby:Me chips are red hot!
The old ones ...
Very distant Little Owl.
I think the right hand bird is a Woodpigeon.
A good do for Partridges John - think 4,5 and 6 are Grey Partridge. You do well for Little Owls as well.
ReplyDeleteYep - a closer look at the pic reveals Grey Partridge.
ReplyDeleteAs you say a good day for Partridge.
Thanks for that Dave - I've updated the blog.
