I know there were several very small Waders in among the Dunlin on the Brigg.
However, my wader knowledge is very lacking and I am struggling to find them!
If I've learned one thing from this outing, it is to get the Dunlin and the 'mystery wader' in the same picture. I can then get an idea of size.
Maybe my Sanderling in Summer plumage will need redacting!
The Tern pics are so poor that I cannot reliably say what sp. I've got apart from the obvious Common Tern.
The Gull with the ring is beyond me!
Unless it's a Juv. Caspian Gull.
The Waders in flight I would say are Bar Tailed Godwit.
Even the pr. Teal has me wondering - the wing colour looks good but the bill is too big and heavy?
Maybe next trip I'll try and find a birder on the Brigg and quiz him/her.
Funnily enough I did ask a guy with a massive camera about the Wheatear that we both saw and he was not sure what the bird was - so maybe I'm not a complete novice after all!
My new book 'The Joys of Birding - parts one to ten'.
John.
Bar Tailed Godwit (above) I think.
White eye ring / slimmer.
Probably a Dunlin can't see what else it can be.
Juv Dunlin ?
All Dunlin
Juv. Dunlin left
Knott / Dunlin
Not too sure
This bird was smaller??
Knott
Juv. Dunlin?
