Sue was with me so the stopping and staring was limited!
We went from Bradshaw following the Calderdale Way (mostly) until the top of Crooked Lane, Nr. Swalesmoor.
Here we took a sharp right along a cracking bridleway that slowly looses height, as it drops down to the buildings at the Howcans.
A tarmac lane is met here and a steady climb joins the main Halifax/Queensbury road, near a bus stop.
We caught the magic 576 bus (1 every 15 mins) to Queensbury swimming baths.
We continued our walk from here, going down Station Road and following the old railway line.
A left turn over a galvanised bridge leads away towards Scholes and then up the road to the Raggalds.
It turned very, very dark here and a bit of sleety stuff followed us home.
Nice to see B.S. out and about.
Birds:
Not much time to stop and stare.
The usual smaller birds about.
A Jay was seen from the 'Howcans' bridleway.
I must visit this area again, it's ideal terrain for Redstart.
c10 Redwing were in trees along the railway path.
2 large birds were having a duel in the air.
I've been trying to turn them into something exotic but..
I'm fairly sure that the Raptor is a Sparrowhawk and the Corvid is a Raven.
Another Redwing and a Mistle Thrush were seen later on and a 2nd Raven, very distant.
A Pied Wagtail was on a house roof near the Junction Inn.
2 Lapwing and a few Common Gulls were seen near the Raggalds.
A Mistle Thrush was in the tree opposite our house.
A really enjoyable outing.
Now to update my Aunty Virus! Such fun!
