We took Emma to Hollingworth Lake this afternoon.
I had a scan about as we did a circuit of the water.
Birds:-
4 Great Crested Grebe, Kestrel, 7 or so Cormorant.
2 Jay, c120 Canada Geese, c30 Teal.
Pied Wagtail. Long Tailed Tit.
A Duck with very dark plumage was seen (while Emma was having some Doughnuts with toffee sauce yummy) from 'The Beach Inn'.
I took a photo through the pub window - It's probably a Tufted Duck.
Lapwing, Moorhen, Coot.
3 Goosander. Mute Swan.
Black Headed and Lesser Black Backed Gulls as far as I could tell.
I've taken lots of photos of the Gulls to look through later.
I thought that one of the Great Crested Grebe had a mouthful of weeds but after closer examination of the photograph, the 'weeds' look a bit on the dodgy side.
Soil Hill - a late do.
16:45 - 18:00 ish - dusk
After dropping Emma at White Windows.
We negotiated that well know car park called Sowerby Bridge.
I just had time for a trip up and around Soil Hill before tea!
A dull damp evening improved as I left the hill and the homeward walk was very pleasant.
Birds:-
3 Kestrel, 3 Meadow Pipit, Pheasant.
As I was approaching the highest point of the main track, 2 Snipe flushed from the east side mounds area.
A minute later a third Snipe flushed from that side also.
They all called and left the scene.
Probably a Moorhen on the NK pond.
Plenty of Gulls in the fields, seen from Ned Hill Track.
As I came down Taylor Lane a Mistle Thrush called.
Scanning about for it, I picked up 12 birds landing on the telegraph wires.
Mistle Thrush and probably Redwing and Starling.
But at the great distance the camera could not get a clear picture.
As I went along Bradshaw Lane 100 + Gulls > WNW to roost.
Hollingworth Lake:-
Soil Hill:-
The Thrush photos - very poor at this distance and gloom
