Bradshaw - Ogden Circular Walk

9:40 - 15:15

A good outing today along the Bradshaw Farms track to Ogden, Back Lane - Ogden Woods - Ogden Water and back via Soil Hill.

A real cracking day for a walk.

Birds:-

Bradshaw Farms to Back Lane Ogden:

Fieldfare, 2 Little Owl, Coal Tit, Linnet.

Ogden Woods / Water:

Green Woodpecker flushed by other walkers ahead, called and landed high in conifers, near me, but a long scan failed to pick it up.

Great Spotted Woodpecker called then seen briefly.
A second (or the same one again) called later.
c80 Gulls.

Double figure Goldcrest - one without white eye stripe? Unless it's a trick of the light.

Soil Hill Area:

A few Gulls and Lapwing on the ever distant Shay fields.
There were some lighter coloured birds in among, so I went down to the wall corner to see of I could make out if they were Goldies.
A racket above my head, stopped me in my tracks, a Crow and a Buzzard were sparring but they soon vanished.

At the wall,I could not make out any Goldies but a small bird left the fence way down the field, and went into the bushes.

A prolonged hang-about paid off with the bird eventually returning to the wall.

It was still at quite a distance, but it was a Stonechat - possibly a 1st Winter bird - if winter is the right terminology in November!
A real beaut.

Going along the circular path, I flushed a Snipe.
The bird did not call, but rose quickly and vanished.

A few Meadow Pipit were hereabouts.

The lower NK pond was devoid of ducks, J'ne Quack - as Pierre might say.

A Mallard left the main track with 4 more overhead on Percy.

My resident Taylor Lane Little Owl was playing hide and seek, but after I counted to 100,000 I spotted it.

A Kestrel flew overhead as I reached my front door.

A good outing.

No eye stripe??
