Holdsworth to Bradshaw

14:30 - 16:10

A late afternoon birding session today.
It's fast approaching my Bradshaw, autumn 'Black Redstart Day' (12/11/2014) but no B.R.'s for me today, alas.

A breezy damp outing with any brightness reluctant to get out of bed.

Holdsworth House area had a Great Spotted Woodpecker Overhead.

Also here, an odd looking Gull with a 'wobbly' flight and a rather fat or maybe swollen neck - perhaps it had a problem swallowing.
It was past me in a breath - It's probably a Common Gull, looking at it's bill (although it's wing-mirrors look a bit like Herring Gull).

My first pass through the copse here revealed nothing avian, so I did an action replay and went through again.
Like all action replays, exactly the same result!

Along the Calderdale way there were a good few Common and Black Headed Gulls circling.
A couple of Herring Gulls with one calling Herring Gull spent a short period overhead here as well.

A Mistle Thrush was seen in conifers at St John's Cross.

A few Goldfinch and Chaffinch were in the park as the light began to fade.

Not a lot to report, but if I didn't get out and about in the fresh air each day, I think I'd go nuts - or slightly more nuts than I already am?

2 pics of the Gull with a swollen neck.
Probably a Common Gull

The bill looks very fine in this photo?

Obviously a Lifer - but which one I can't say.

A good few Carrion Crows about

Looking to AmblerThorn, Queensbury
from The Calderdale Way.

A few poor pics of Herring Gull in the murk:-
