Here and There

A bit of toing and froing today, with various places to visit.
In amongst I manged to 'slope off into the undergrowth'.

Clay House - West Vale.

I had a 30 minutes nosy about around Clay House, just keeping to the tarmac paths.

Birds:-

Great Spotted Woodpecker - the pictures are rubbish - but I was well pleased to pick it out!
Mallard, Treecreeper, Nuthatch.
Great, Blue, Long Tailed and Coal Tits.

Sainsbury's Halifax.

I had a stroll around the car park while Sue picked up a parcel.

Lots of berries on the trees bit no Waxwing on my visit today.

A Sparrowhawk made a brief visit.

I still find Raptors difficult to tell apart- I though I had a Peregrine at first.
But the bird had blunt rather than pointed wings and quite a long tail.

Roper Lane (Raggalds).

We stopped on the way home on Roper Lane near the Raggalds where there was a substantial flock of birds.
Mostly Starling and Lapwing (c150) with some small Gulls in amongst.

A late afternoon stroll to the Junction Inn at Scholes, and back brought with two very pleasant glasses of vino collapso  but no a lot else.

A few Gulls were in the Pit lane fields and the, earlier, large Lapwing flock had dwindled to just a couple of birds

An enjoyable day.

There is a G S W here somewhere!
