The Waxwing hunt continues - Skircoat Green

10:45 - 13:10

Dull with drizzle for a lot of the outing.

After being tied up with family over Christmas it was a nice change to be out in the fresh air.

Today I had another try for Waxwing around the Skircoat Green area.
I parked on Saville Park Road and headed down to St. Albans and the allotments.
It is a pleasant place to stroll around with loads of potential and a cracking café to visit for lunch.
After the café visit I gave some of the nearby roads and lanes a look at including Rawson Avenue and Greenroyd Ave before checking out the trees around the Saville Park fields.

Birds:-

Loads of birds to check out, most of them unfortunately swathed in darkness in the tree tops, with not much light on offer today.

The usual sp. were here in, some, in very good numbers.

Brambling, Song Thrush, Mistle Thrush, Starling, Redwing, Jay, Goldfinch, Long Tailed Tit and a few other sp.

A poor photo of geese (taken through the car windscreen at Sowerby Bridge) on Christmas Day.
What sp. of Geese - I would not like to say!
