I thought I'd have a try for the Waxwings seen yesterday by CS.
I did not hold out much hope, with 24 hrs having passed and my twitch record!
I had a good walk down St. Albans Road and took the path at the bottom, past the allotments and up Godfrey Road a few times.
I called at the café at the top of Godfrey Rd - well worth a visit - and after 2 Mince Pies and a coffee, I had another scan about.
Afterwards I took a walk around Saville Park but I did not locate the Waxwings.
(It don't mean they are not there though!).
Birds:
Plenty of Thrushes, Redwing , Blackbird and Mistle Thrush.
6 or so Brambling seen throughout the walk.
The usual mix of Common and Black Headed Gull on the moor.
100's Starlings.
Very Large Corvid.
Very light coloured Jackdaw?
You gave it a try John. No reports of the Waxwings today, only blanks. Great Mistle Thrush shot and good to get Brambling eating berries/seeds.
ReplyDeleteI bet those mince pies went down well !!!
Pies delicious but TOO small , had to have another.
ReplyDeleteMy last local Waxing was seen on Burdock Way roundabout!
Cheers for the comment.
