A hospital visit first thing this morning brought a reward with a Sparrowhawk seen airborne as we passed Holdsworth schools on our way home.
This aft. we had a short stroll to the Moorlands for a coffee.
Lots of snow on the fields and not many birds about, as expected.
A landscape photo revealed a large Gull? sp. that I did not realise was in the photo at the time.
Might be a Corvid??
A pr. of large noisy Gulls were way up high overhead.
One looked 'odd' through the bins and the photograph reveals that the bird was carrying a large chunk of bread by the looks of it!
Back home the Starlings were tussling for the meal worms with a Robin, Dunnock and Blackbird.
No sign of my pr. winter Mistle Thrushes.
A few snowy pictures:

Captured a Gull? sp. unexpectedly in this picture.

Cropped from above - not great.

ReplyDeleteI'd plump for Raven but the picture aint good enough.
Amazing what's 'out of sight' kncoking about.
Thanks for checking it out.
John
I keep coming back to it. It's not a gull. The distant photo shows it's obviously a big bird with a deep belly, long wings. I think your Raven is probably right !
ReplyDeletecheers Dave.
