After we gave Kens old apartment a spring clean this morning, and handed over the keys, Sue dropped me at Skircoat Green.
Another crack at Waxwing but no joy again.
However, I did have a really enjoyable outing and a special bird (for me in summer - never mind winter) popped up - a F. Blackcap.
The Blackcap was in the trees along Lawrence Avenue feeding with c8 Bramblings.
Also about were a good scattering of Mistle Thrush c6 seen.
A few Redwing and it was pleasing to pick out a Coal Tit and a Goldcrest, earlier, along Broomfield Avenue.
Other birds included a Jay and a Sparrowhawk.
Halifax Parish Church area.
Sue called at Matalans this aft and she gave me the option of shopping or birding...
Not a lot happening in the church grounds so I loitered about in Matalans car park.
Some interesting fly overs here.
Heron and a distant, high, Raptor and a distant, high, Corvid.
The Raptor possibly a Peregrine and the Corvid possibly a Raven, but neither photo is good enough to give me a tick.
Several small birds came into the trees across the road.
A small flock of the birds was leaving the trees en-masse to return again almost immediately.
Bullfinch and Chaffinch were there for definite and one picture shows a Lesser Redpoll.
Unusual - Pied Jackdaw.
Probably a Peregrine
Raven? The bird looked very large at distance but could be a Carrion Crow?
