A cold, very windy day with some sunshine - not a Soil Hill day - I kept to the lower ground.
From Lane Head I went past Brook House Farm, had a walk up and down the golf course track before following the stream along past the Golf Club House.
The stream path ends with a steep climb up the hillside to meet the path to Ogden Water.
I was hoping to bump into DJS's Siskin but didn't.
A 'Thrush Type' flushed from near the stream in the tangle of bushes way beyond the Golf Club House and there was 2 Goldcrest here.
Further along in the sheltered dell there were many Blue and Great Tits feeding below the trees.
Also here Chaffinch and a calling Bullfinch.
After the steep climb, I was soon at Ogden water, where there were lots of dogs with their owners.
The promenade was extremely windy.
A scan for the Kingfisher, from the Prom was fruitless.
The water held 100 or so small Gulls nearly all Black Headed Gulls with just a few Common Gulls.
A solitary Gull, way over on the far side of the water, looked 'interesting' but at that distance the picture of it is awful!
A Common Gull with presumably a Black Headed Gull (not a Med. Gull?) also looked 'interesting' but again the photo is poor.
A smattering of Herring Gulls were seen along the way.
A Kestrel and a Collard Dove were seen along Ogden Lane as I left for home.
The 'Bradshaw Farm Track' had the odd Common Gull and a few other common sp. but nothing spectacular.
At least a lengthy look for the Little Owl, further along the track, paid dividends.
Not a great outing!
Yesterday, as I was getting soaked to the skin, on Soil Hill, and seeing nowt - Sue spotted a Buzzard from our kitchen window.
