Sainsbury's Waxwing and Ogden walkabout

I had another crack at the Sainsbury's Waxwing this morning and hit pay dirt with 10 seen in the Car Park.
The birds were settled until the sun popped out then they moved off.
I was lucky and caught up with them again at the bottom of Goal Lane.
They soon left, heading roughly in the direction of Dean Clough.
Also here, Fieldfare, Redwing, Blackbird, Mistle Thrush and Sparrowhawk.

A cracking start to my day.

Ogden:

11:30 - 15:00

A longish stint at Ogden.
There was heavy drizzle at Ogden when I arrived so I opted for an early lunch in the visitors centre.
The weather improved soon after I ventured out and it was a pleasant surprize to meet with JM and DJS along the circuit.

After saying tarra to them I did a second circuit before going through the woods on the east side to Back Lane then drove home.

(Thanks for the Exposure Compensation tip John).

Birds:-

A few small Gulls on the water with Herring Gull on the water and seen overhead also.
Not a lot on the first circuit a Coal Tit and a calling Great Spotted Woodpecker.
A pr. of Bullfinch were seen from the Promenade.

On the second circuit I caught up with a small flock of Goldfinch followed by a small (c12) flock of Long Tailed Tit  but no sign of AC's Redpoll.

Also along the way were Treecreeper and a Goldcrest kept me busy trying to take it's photo.

The path through the east side woods had 10 Blackbird in close proximity and a calling Great Spotted Woodpecker seen briefly.
Then there was a second (or the same), very vociferous Great Spotted Woodpecker.
The bird made some very unusually harsh calls.
I though maybe there was another GSW here, in competition with it?
Also 2 Stock Dove.

Back Lane had 2 Mistle Thrush - one Mistle Thrush burst into song but no for long.

Another (or the same!) Great Spotted Woodpecker was seen calling from high in a tree - miles away.

Not a bad day - not everyday I see Waxwing or get strange looks from passers by at Sainsburys!!
