A Day at the Seaside - Southport

We thought we would make the most of the cracking weather, and, on the spur of the moment this morning we decided to take a drive out to Southport.

We went via Colne and the M65 etc.
The run over to Colne was great with the morning sunshine and 12 Oystercatcher at Ponden and Red Grouse on the field walls further along.

From Southport we walked along the seafront to the RSPB site at Marshside and back.

A really enjoyable day out.

Birds:-

Pink Footed Goose, Greylag Goose, Canada Goose, Barnacle Goose.
Golden Plover, Lapwing, Little Egret.
Teal, Wigeon, Pintail, Shelduck, Gadwall, Mallard, Shoveler.
Mute Swan, Coot, Moorhen.
Oystercatcher, Redshank, Black-tailed Godwit.
Black Headed Gull, Lesser Black-backed Gull, Herring Gull.
Thousands of Starlings, Possible Raven.

Cormorant including one very light coloured individual that was causing some discussion in the hide there.

And a few others!

Very light coloured Cormorant

Very distant (don't know what).
