Sowerby Bridge Canal and Hollingworth Lake

Another beautiful sunny warm day.

Sowerby Bridge Canal - 10:30 - 11:30

A short outing along the canal at Sowerby Bridge this morning.

On my way to pick up the canal, a distant Dipper was seen from the road bridge in Sowerby Bridge.

A Woodpecker was drumming 'lightly' a couple of times.
A Great Spotted Woodpecker called, further along.
Neither bird was seen alas.

A couple of Nuthatch and a Jay was about all, in this short walk.

Hollingworth Lake:

We had a late afternoon visit to Hollingworth Lake.

Not as many birds here as usual.

A pr. Gadwall were birds of the outing.

At least 12 Cormorant, Black Headed Gull, Lesser Black-backed Gull, Herring Gull.

5 Goosander, Tufted Duck, Coot, Great Crested Grebe, Canada Geese, Mute Swan.

Quite a few different Gull age groups today - I've had a crack at Identifying them - can't be sure I right though!

Herring Gull - 1cy

Adult Lesser Black-backed Gulls - looking good

Lesser Black-backed Gull 1 cy

Not too sure - Lesser Black-backed Gull or Herring Gull - 2cy?
