Brighouse Canal

15:25 - 17:00

Very windy in Bradshaw so we opted for a short walk along the canal in Brighouse this aft.
A bright cool day, very pleasant for a walk.
No time to check out the feeding station today.

Birds:-

2 Greylag Geese, Canada Geese.
c6 Cormorant seen here and there along the way.
6 Heron along the side of the ski lake.
Black Headed Gull, Common Gull, Herring Gull.
M/F Goosander - F. on the ski lake, M. on the canal.
Moorhen, 2 Stock Dove.
3 Bullfinch, 2 Goldcrest.

A nice surprise was that of a Dipper, seen  on the first weir, around the corner of the river, after the lock-keepers cottage.

No ticks - but nice to be out and about.

Yesterday's Herring Gull query.
I was torn between Herring Gull and Common Gull because of the lack of Red on the Bill.
The size of the bird makes it a Herring Gull but I cannot find any reference to Herring Gull bill colour on the web.
Can any one point me in the right direction?
