Leeshaw Reservoir - Oxenhope - Puzzler

10:10 - 11:50

I took a drive out to Leeshaw Reservoir - Oxenhope this morning.
Quite cold after the recent sunny stuff, today, with poor visibility in really murky conditions, but it remained dry.

Birds:-

Goose / Swan Puzzle.

A large Goose/ Swan > N very high overhead and it had a 'different call' to the ones I am familiar with.
The call had just 2 notes and the bird, circled a bit, called 4/5 times before it was out of sight.
The best I could say was the call had a 'wonk - wonk' sound to it!

I manged a few photos and checking them on the camera the bird looked like a Whooper Swan.
I then Looked at Collins Bird Book and got all excited bout it being a Bewick's Swan!
Later I zoomed it up on Piccasa and yep you've guessed it it's a Goose! DOH.

Looks a bit Greylag but probably a Pink Footed going by the call?

Other Birds:-

Lapwing c80
Oystercatcher c16
Black Headed Gull 12
Common Gull 4
Greylag Goose c100
Canada Goose c150
Green Woodpecker calling frequently.
Pr. Heron.
Meadow Pipit.

The 3 pictures above are of my puzzler!

Look what a bit of brightness does to the picture quality
