St. Aiden's - Swillington - RSPB

We have had a lot of gallivanting about these last 5 days.
Today it was Emma who needed some new trainers.
We had a trip out to Junction32 Outlet near Castleford.
The trip paid dividends with Emma picking up some £50 trainers for £30.

I was NOT allowed to go shopping and Sue forced me to go birding, dropping me off at St. Aiden's for a few hours.

It was another cracking day with blue skies and sunshine, the temperature reached 18 deg. at one point.
The downside was the great amount of reflection and glare from the masses of water here.

Anyway I enjoyed a slow stroll around and had some interesting chats, with birders, at different points along the way.

Birds:-

A lifer for me a Black-necked Grebe.

A Bean Goose, had been reported, feeding with a few Pink Footed Geese in a field. I did catch up with the Pinkies but they were distant, and having no experience with Bean Goose, could not say if I eyeballed it or not!

Greylag Goose, Canada Goose, Pink Footed Goose, Mute Swan.
Curlew, Lapwing, Golden Plover, Oystercatcher. Redshank.
Tufted Duck, Teal, Gadwall, Shoveler, Pochard, Mallard.
Meadow Pipit, Reed Bunting, Skylark.
Little Grebe, Great Crested Grebe, Black-necked Grebe.

And no doubt a few other sp.

(I'm now looking forward to some local birding again soon!).

Lapwing(?) behind the Black Headed Gull

This looked Meadow Pipit (ish) at first.
The shadows on the photo don't help.
Don't think its a Mipit, Linnet or a Reed Bunt?
I suppose Reed Bunt is the likely candidate.
