A near catastrophe this morning when after painstakingly preparing all the ingredients for a super doper chocolate cake, Sue, Abigail and Emma had a shock (well lack of a shock really) when a power cut stopped the job 'mid-bake'.
The power did come back on after a bit, and the baking resumed.
The cake was carefully inspected but it had not risen 'like it should have'
.
However - it tasted magic - yum-yum.

After some cake I had a real blustery outing, with a little rain, that blew the cobwebs away.I went to Ogden and back via Bradshaw Farm track, Syke Lane and Ogden Back Lane.
I was hoping the earlier storms might have dropped something special onto Ogden Water but I hoped in vain.
Birds:-
Curlew feeding in the Bradshaw fields was a nice surprise, when I zoomed up the distant photo on the laptop. My first local Curlew.
15 or so Small Gulls.
A solitary Lapwing was in the Syke Lane Fields - another surprise.
Stock Dove over.
Ogden:
Ogden Water was extremely quiet with no Gulls when I arrived and 5 Gulls (1 Herring and 4 Black Headed) when I left.
A pr, Goosander, distant and mostly sleeping.
2 Canada Geese, Singing Mistle Thrush.
A Treecreeper, albeit in shadow, was a nice find along with a few Coal Tit.
Goldfinch were gathering in the Car Park trees.
Back Lane area - 1 Curlew seen in flight, probably more going by the calls.
4 Herring Gulls were seen at distance, over Soil Hill.
Collard Dove.
I was very lucky with the weather today - An enjoyable outing.
Nearing home - Ringby Top on the skyline.
