Bradshaw - Ogden water - Ogden Golf Course- Stodfold - Brockholes - Bradshaw

10:00 - 16:00

A free day today and a fair walkabout looking for Wheatear.
A very cold wind early on and I found it hard going bird wise.
I took the opportunity to take another look, far up Ogden Back Lane area, for 'Ringo' or Wheatear but no joy.

Birds:-

Bradshaw to Ogden - not a lot happening.

Greenfinch, Meadow Pipit, Jay, Mistle Thrush, Curlew, 7 Herring Gull, Skylark, Snipe calling near the ruin, a good way up, Ogden Back Lane area.
Great Spotted Woodpecker calling in Ogden woods.
Goldcrest.

Ogden Water - Quiet.

C20 Herring Gulls riding the waves - soon left.
Moorhen, 2 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, Mallard,
Canada Goose, Grey Wagtail.

Ogden Golf Course Area.

Things livened up a bit here.
A Raven took a dislike to a passing Heron.
The Raven, however, was soon mobbed by other Corvids and left.

Also here:-

Pheasant, Curlew, Meadow Pipit, Kestrel.
A Cormorant was seen, miles off, over Soil Hill!

Lower Brockholes:

3 Linnet, Stock Dove, Collard Dove
A very ragged looking Swallow was on the telephone lines along Syke Lane.
They must be finding life difficult at present.

Bradshaw Farm Track:

Pied Wagtail, Kestrel.

A search for Little Owl did not reveal any but I did pick up a marvellously camouflaged Wheatear.
I was well chuffed!!
6 hours looking for Wheatear and 250 yds from home Bingo!!
Should have hung about here all day!!!

Carrion Crow

Moving fast over Ogden Water.
Birds very light underneath.
But the picture is rubbish!
Too fast for me.

??? Miles off on Ogden Golf Course ???
