Brookfoot LNR

14:30 - 16:30

This cold weather is preventing us from visiting Shibden Park, (Emma really struggles with the cold), instead Sue is making buns with Abi and Emma.
It was very windy in Bradshaw today and while the girls were baking I headed off to Brighouse.

(Earlier we had to make a trip to Elland to get a new walker for Emma.
We went from Sowerby Bridge, via Ripponden with the road snarl up at Salterhebble.
Along the way I spotted a Buzzard from the car).

Brookfoot Birds:

Not as much birdsong as I hoped for (perhaps caused by the strong breeze?).

A Grey Wagtail was on the rocks near the Avocet Weir.
3 Blackcap.
Coot with nesting materials.
6 Chiffchaff.
Sand Martin high overhead.
2 Swallow.
2 Heron.
A Reed Warbler sang/called from the reedbed.
I hung around on a conveniently placed bench for 15 - 20 mins but it did not pop up for a snap.

A Carrion Crow with lots of white in the wings flew over.

Just 1 Willow Warbler heard which was odd.

Pr. Goosander on the river.
2 Great Spotted Woodpecker.

A Kingfisher was seen twice flying over the river as I neared the fishing ponds near the Avocet buildings.
