Tour De Yorkshire and Hollingworth Lake

Loads of bunting, Blue and Yellow flags and small painted bikes with road graffiti in Bradshaw today with the arrival of the Tour De Yorkshire cycle race.

The race passed our house and lots of people were out on the streets making for a great atmosphere.

Later, after all the fuss had died down, we took Emma out for the afternoon, to Hollingworth Lake.

No sign of any spring warmth again today, so while Emma and Sue had a coffee and a bun in the visitors centre café, I had a short walk along the water to the bird hide and back.

It was very quiet, for birds on the water but the session turned out to be quite a pleasing one, with a couple of ticks, albeit not local ones.

The water is quite low and most birds were seen at distance, from the bird hide.

Birds:-

Many Sand Martin with a few House Martin and Swallow.
Lesser Black-backed Gull, Black Headed Gull.
Pr. Little Ringed Plover.
A solitary Dunlin.
A solitary Common Sandpiper.
Moorhen, Blackcap, Willow Warbler.
Chiffchaff, Great Created Grebe.
Oystercatcher.

and a few others.
