We parked at Sowerby Bridge and walked to Hebden Bridge.
With no bins and camera we did the walk in less than 2 hours, probably over 3 hrs with some birding in the mix.
After a café break and a look at the shops we walked back as far as Mytholmroyd before the showers arrived and we headed to the bus stop.
We got off at Tuel Lane and walked back down to Sowery Bridge in a hail shower.
Birds:-
No bins or camera this outing.
A Whitethroat sat singing, in the sun, out in the open near the canalside for a good while.
Which is to be expected when you don't take a camera!
A Buzzard flew around, low, mobbed by crows.
A Pr. Grey Wagtail were seen along the canal.
A Dipper was seen on the return stretch.
9 Different F. Canada Geese on eggs.
5 different broods of Canada Goslings seen, some very young.
A few other sp.
Birdcage Lane, Hill Area.
On the way home Sue paid a visit to Saville Park Nursing home to see here dad and I had a scout around the local area.
Showery rain off and on, mostly on for the outing.
Not too bad under the trees below Rocks Road but a tad miserable along New Road off Birdcage Hill.
The leaves are in good nick now making birds a bit more awkward to see and photograph.
Birds:-
3 Great Spotted Woodpecker heard (with 1 of the 3 glimpsed)!
At least 6 Nuthatch seen.
Blackcap, flitting about high in a tree.
Jay.
A few Blue and Great Tits was about all.
Enjoyable none the less.
Still struggling with this years Calderdale bird list - I've just arrived at 90, still no Owls, apart for a plethora of the Little version.
(I'll have to start following AC around - then again, maybe not, I don't like getting out of bed till 7:30am!!)
Great to hear about a Redstart seen along Back Lane, Ogden earlier.
Some photos - but none that will win any prizes!!
(except maybe the booby one).
The path below Rock Road to Birdcage Hill.
Even the Jay's not me pal today.
