Filey Hoilday

A few days away on holiday, to Filey, with Abi and her dad this week.
Mostly dry and breezy with some good sunny days.

I made an early morning visit to Filey Dams, early on in the week.
Things were unusually quiet here, on my visit, with no Sandpiper sp.

The long staying Spoonbill was still here, mostly asleep as usual.
A Widgeon landed in  the pond opposite the Main Hide which was a nice surprise.
A Green Woodpecker was in the tree here as I left the hide.

A day out at Flamborough Head was rewarded with 42 Seals.

I did also manage a few, late evening, visit to Filey Brigg but I struggled with lack of light and the tide situation.
A quick morning visit on our leaving day faired better with a cracking Yellow Wagtail and a beaut of a Willow Warber seen on the 'pond' at the top of the field car park on my way to the Brigg, cliff path.

A large light coloured seal was on the rocks off the North cliff.

Birds:

Young Guillemot calling, far off in the sea.
Fulmar, Oystercatchers building in numbers.
Redshank, Turnstone. Black Tailed Godwit, Whimbrel.
Heron, Herring Gull, Greater Black-backed Gull, Lesser Black-backed Gull, Black Headed Gull.
Cormorant, Kittiwake,
Probably Common Tern and Sandwich Tern(by the call) but photos were poor with the birds very distant.
Gannet. Teal. Loads of Pied Wagtail, Tufted Duck. Coot, Moorhen, Mute Swan, Greylag Goose, Canada Goose.
Dunlin, Meadow Pipit, Knott, Great Crested Grebe.
Wheatear.
A Willow Warbler sporting a silver leg ring.
Yellow Wagtail, Linnet.
Nice to see a good crowd of Greenfinch.
Tree Sparrow, Kestrel.

… and a few other sp.

Always a delight to visit Filey Brigg.

I'm not clever enough to ID these in flight.
