Bradshaw Farms - Soil Hill Friday pm

13:15 - 15:15

Another local birding outing and another soaking this afternoon, while Sue picked Abi up from Heckmondwike.

The sun came out as I left home within 15 mins I was sheltering under a Sycamore Tree along the farm lane.
After 30 mins leaf counting under the tree the rain eased and Soil Hill looked clear from the bottom of Ned Hill Road.
The Sycamore had 635 leaves by the way.
When I got to the top of Soil Hill, though, the drizzly stuff returned with mist and murk.

Birds:-

Tough going today and not a lot happening.
52 Gulls ,distant in the lower Bradshaw Fields, were mainly Black Headed and Common but there a few sub-adult larger Gulls and at least one Herring Gull.
Mistle Thrush.

Highlight of a dull do was a calling Green Woodpecker, miles off, that I did pick out in a distant conifer.

Soil Hill had c12 Meadow Pipit.
Taylor Lane had a Kestrel Overhead.

A wet looking Kestrel on a telephone pole, can be seen from our dining room window as I'm typing this.

Spot the Green Woodpecker -  in above conifer.

Full Zoom.
Not pretty but recognisable.
