Canal Walk.
An enjoyable walk along the canal from Sowerby Bridge to Hebden Bridge this morning, with a short stop at 'The Kitchen' café in Mytholmroyd.
No bins or camera on the walk today.
Plenty of reports of Pinkies moving but none seen along the walk.
Birds:
Goosander on the canal early on.
Great Spotted Woodpecker.
Kingfisher seen along the canal near Tenterfields.
2nd Kingfisher seen perched on a canal barge near Hebden Bridge.
The 2nd Kingfisher flew into the woods and reappeared (or a 3rd bird) later on.
Grey Wagtail, 3 Cormorants.
Interestingly only 4 Canada Geese seen on the walk - I counted 212 Canada Geese on this walk not long back!
Local Birding Walk.
A local walk up Taylor Lane, along Percy Road, a look at the Raggalds Flood and down Bradshaw Lane home.
Great to catch up with 'Percy Road Ken' who was out again walking his dog after some serious heart surgery in Sheffield.
I didn't expect to see much on this dark satanic evening and my expectations were correct.
Birds:
Pair of calling Dunnock looked in fine fettle seen at the Taylor Lane Midden.
Mistle Thrush on a pylon wire.
A look for Little Owl paid off, eventually, one being seen from Percy Road, miles off.
Raggalds Flood had a few Black Headed Gull and a bit less juice.
As I was cleaning my boots at home, a Green Woodpecker called loudly as it landed in a large Ash tree opposite our house.
Ringby Top from Taylor Lane
Roper Lane from Percy Lane.
