Sowerby Bridge / Bradshaw - Soil Hill

Sowerby Bridge.

I had a very short outing, walking down St. Peter's Avenue from the Church to Fore Lane this morning while Sue and Abi were getting Emma 'ready for take-off'.

Lots of potential here with many large trees and some bushes full of berries but no sight of Waxwing or Brambling for me today.

A Bullfinch was in the trees by the B&M Car Park.
Some Winter Thrushes were in the trees, seen while we sat at the numerous traffic lights at Kings Cross.

Bradshaw - Soil Hill.

14:10 - 15:30

I dropped a bit of a clanger , weather wise.
Leaving home for Soil Hill, via the Farm Track, It looked as if it would stay fine.
On arrival on Soil Hill there was a gale blowing the rain sideways - not too great an experience and my second soaking in 2 days.

Birds:

A pr. of Little Owl were eventually located, sheltering behind walls, along the Farm track but not a lot else.

A Kestrel was seen hunting, high, from Ned Hill Lane.

No a lot on the Hill, just lots of weather.

The longer path to Percy Road failed to bring much with it except for a Mega distant view of Raggalds Flood where a large group of Lapwing , more than 70 birds, were in the fields here.
I didn't have time to go around that way to check them out.

Taylor Lane had a good few Small Gulls, 45 or so.

A second Kestrel was seen as I neared home.
