A wild, wet and windy morning that continued into the afternoon, was reluctant to clear off - it did eventually slope off leaving the late afternoon quite pleasant.
My usual outing, along past Eastcroft Farm, a circuit of Ogden, then through the plantation and up to Soil Hill.
Rough weather early on kept things very quiet but I did pick out a Little Owl along the farm track.
3 Herring Gulls airborne.
Ogden:
Ogden Lane was chocker with cars and I tried (and failed) not to look too smug as I passed them, my walking boots moving faster than their metal horses.
Birds of Note here:
6 Bullfinch, Long Tailed Tit, Nuthatch.
Pr. Reed Bunting, Pr. Goosander asleep.
A sighting of a Kingfisher in the bushes on the NW end coincided with a request from 2 young ladies with dogs for me to use their phone to take a photograph.
They wanted a photo of them and their dogs - and not me - as if!
A Dipper was the result of my call of nature near the NE inlet pond!
c35 Small Gulls 90/10 BHG/Common.
The plantation had a pr. Pied Wagtail and a Pheasant.
A few other sp. elsewhere was about it.
I had a good laugh with Geoff and Ian, the GI birders on Ned Hill Road.
I also bumped into Boothtown Ray a bit further along.
And the amazing sight of 'Percy Road Ken' riding his bike along the road by Soil Hill track after recovering from his major surgery a few months back.
Well done Ken - your biking prowess puts mine to shame!
Just caught it before it left.
