Elland to Brighouse and back

With a poor weather forecast for this afternoon, we made the best of the mornings dry weather with a walk along the towpath from Elland to Brighouse and back.

I manged to bag 2 cheap Henning Mankell books, in a second hand shop, in Brighouse, so that was a good do.

No bins today but I did take a camera, just in case.

I thought I would finally get a dry outing but the rain got to us half a mile from the car.

Birds:

Not really a birding outing but I did clock up a tick or three, with my yearly tick list fair whizzing along now.

5 Mute Swan were seen in total.
A male Great Spotted Woodpecker was opposite the Collier Arms.
(We called at the Colliers for a 'great value' shandy.
There are No 'high tech' apparatus allowed in Sam Smith's pubs so If your mobile pings here - out in the street you must go.
Funnily enough after saying that we get very few phone calls, Sue's mobile rang, and immediately after, mine had a grapevine 'ping'.)

When the rain came,a distant raptor , fairly sure, a Buzzard appeared over the crematorium.

Some others were, Long Tailed Tit, 3 Cormorant, a calling Nuthatch, F. Bullfinch and a Moorhen.
