A breezy day with bands of mostly lightish drizzle pulsing through from the west.
The Ogden Water west bank was pretty well sheltered from the worst of it but elsewhere it was a bit miserable at times, very dull throughout.
Good to catch up with JS and DJS here this morning.
A good team effort on the west bank when I heard several Siskin calling high in the conifers and Dave eyeballed them.
They arrived with some drizzle and remained mostly high in the dark canopy.
I was pleased to get any photos of them.
I've got hold of a copy of:-
"The Butterflies and Moths of Calderdale" - Their current status and local histories by A. Cockroft.
A really professional publication with some stunning photos - a real gem.
Well done Andy - I'm a bit (lot) of a philistine on this subject but you never know....

2 Herring Gull.
1 Lesser Black-backed Gull.

Nice to see you up there John. Thanks for your good hearing to pick out those Siskin in the pines. A nice year tick for me! We managed the Kingfisher as a flypast as well.
ReplyDeleteNice Treecreeper as well
ReplyDeleteThanks Dave.
ReplyDeleteWhat, with my ears and your eyes, how we didn't locate a Lesser Pecker there today, is beyond comprehension!!
John
That'll be the day !!!
