Sparrowhawks and PINKIES

Not much chance for birding this week.

Out and about though keeping my eyes peeled did produce a few goodies.

Pinkies:

Top of the shop was late evening, today, with my phone pinging with messages about Pink Footed Geese on the move West.

I stood outside the house, on a very calm and quiet evening waiting for the Pinkies to come my way.
After a while the sky got dark and I thought I'd missed the boat but the sound of very, very quiet calling Geese arrived in me lug 'oles.
They came into sight 1/2 a mile south of me.
I just managed a few very distant photos of the dark sky as the group soon disappeared.

Some great fun today with the help and patience of the grapevine guys - BS and DJS - thanks.

Elsewhere:

Yesterday a Sparrowhawk was seen over Hipperholme.

Sowerby Bridge - Mytholmroyd.

We enjoyed a walk along the canal this morning.
A lovely sunny start with some cloud bubbling up later.

3 Goosander (2 Drakes).
Sparrowhawk.
Canada Geese.
3 Nuthatch.
Heron.
Mallard.
Mistle Thrush.
Singing Blackbird.

Halifax:

Killing time on a visit to Specsavers a Sparrowhawk was seen flying into the trees below Southowram Bank.

A few Jackdaw, Goldfinch and a singing Blackbird near the Parish Church.

An enjoyable evening and as I was photographing the Pinkies, stood in the garden in slippers (me not the Pinkies), Abi and Sue turned up with a bemused look on their face.

Sparrowhawk here... somewhere!
