I had a nosy around White Windows gardens this morning while we waited for an appointment.
A singing Song Thrush, a Pr. Bullfinch and a very quick undulating fly past of a Woodpecker (probably a Great Spotted Woodpecker, but it looks very small on the rubbish photos) were seen with many more common species.
Most birds were in the distant high trees around the gardens.
Dean Clough:
After looking around the Halifax Parish Church area, while Emma and Sue were In Matalins and not seeing much - (me not the ladies) a speculative photo of Dean Clough chimney, on our way home, revealed a definite Peregrine Falcon with , probably, a second Peregrine there also.
Soil Hill/Taylor Lane
I enjoyed a short visit to Soil Hill and Taylor Lane this aft.
Sue dropped me off on Percy Road to save me the uphill slog, after the last few days treks I was feeling my years.
Soil Hill
Warm! up here and it's January!
Kestrel, Carrion Crow, Wren, Heron very distant on the lower NK pond.
A few Gulls over, Pipits heard but they remained unseen.
Taylor Lane.
Little Owl.
The Little Owl is like a lovely old book, leave it long enough and it will turn up at the edges.
Woodpecker (as you've never seen before!)

Right bird from above photo.
Great to get both 'pegs' on the cimney. Nice 1/2 John.
ReplyDeleteLittle Owls seem to be ok so far this year John, hope the weather doesn't let them down this winter. Doing well for them again !!!
ReplyDeleteCheers Dave.
ReplyDeleteI am blessed with Little Owl nearby.
Tawny Old is my Achilles Heel - only ever seen them at Bolton Abbey and on holiday.
Hoping for a BIG OWL soon too.
Peregrine is special, and high upon the Chimney, pretty safe.
