A good few hours out birding this afternoon a bit dull and damp but the rain stayed away till I was leaving.
Taking the river path was a bit of a mistake with the path a bog mostly.
To be expected with the extreme wet weather of late.
Nearly went base over apex - and my pants looked as if I had done so!
Birds:
Not a bad outing for late winter.
2 Grey Wagtail by Avocet Weir.
Jay.
Possibly 2 Water Rail called a few times.
The call similar to a slipping fan belt.
Some calls were simultaneous ,from either side of the lagoon.
I tried to get the call on video, but the camera is quite noisy on the video setting and the birds quiet and distant.
The usual birds on the feeders including Nuthatch.
3 Heron.
4 Moorhen.
Coot.
2 Little Grebe.
Green Woodpecker called from the Brookfoot Woods area.
Pied Wagtail.
Pr. Goosander on the river bank.
Male Goosander in the ski lake.
4 Common Gull.
1 Black Headed Gull.
I Herring Gull.
2 Buzzards(?) displaying, high, near Avocet weir in the gloom, were interrupted by an other large bird - Raven?
The rain came along as I was trying to get a photo of them, which is pretty typical this winter.
The lower bird looks 'Red Kite' like in this view.
This pic seems to show 2 Buzzard and a Raven?
