A cool NE breeze late afternoon.
I spent most of the day in the garden, sky watching, reading and doing the crossword.
Our daily exercise walk from home takes in the Raggalds 'flood', a bit of Percy Lane and Taylor Lane (although the 'flood' will so be no more - and there were cattle here today).
Peacock calling from a farm along Percy Road.
Skylarks singing from Soil Hill area and a couple of Meadow Pipits heard.
A Kestrel was seen from Taylor Lane,my only raptor all day.
Garden birds were hard to come by even when I resorted to my scope.
A few Bees and Butterflies flitted through the garden but I did not get any pics.
I did get a poor photo of a pr. Butterflies along Percy Road.
From the garden the usual culprits seen.
Dunnock, Blackbird, Great Tit, Blue Tit, Magpie, Carrion Crow, Woodpigeon, Canada Goose, Chaffinch, Goldfinch, Mallard.
Greenfinch calling.
Late evening a mega distant Lesser Black-backed Gull.
My enforced garden bird count has reached 24.
Hard to keep track of what day it is? - Keep safe.
Translucent Legs
Count is slowly rising John.... keep going. I'm on 35 now since Sunday. We overlook the park which is a bonus but the sky is hard work when it's so clear (apart from the RK this afternoon). See what tomorrow brings.
ReplyDeleteI see you got a Small Tortoiseshell today. Look out for butterflies too with some Peacock's and Comma's about.
ReplyDeleteCheers Dave.
ReplyDeleteMight get Linnet in the nearby fields!
Last "good" day tomorrow, turning really cold by weekend, might curtail the garden watch!
35 - pretty goid from the garden!
