Soil Hill,Taylor Lane AM- Bradshaw PM.

This morning's exercise walk took in the Soil Hill contour path, Ned Hill Track and Taylor Lane.
The cold north wind is still very apparent on the tops, probably keeping some migratory birds at bay.
Swifts were moving with 7 seen.
2 Sand Martins were in the quarry and 4 Whitethroat were seen throughout.
Also about Stock Dove , Lesser Black-backed Gull and a few others.

This aft. I had a 'there and back' from home to Ned Hill Lane bottom via the fields and farm track.
A long, long look at the gorse covered hillsides for Chats, failed to find any.
The large contingent of Jackdaw here might have a bearing on the lack of birds?

A long scan along the field walls failed to locate a Little Owl but I did come across one as I scanned the grassy hillside.

A Whitethroat was heard, early on, and it was still present on my return. Both times , though it remained hidden.

Swifts were moving through and there were many black flies about.

Just a few Gulls seen from the garden watch.
