Hag Lane - Pipit Update

We had to visit Lepton, Huddersfield, with Sue' car this morning to get something sorted out. Thankfully it's covered by the warranty, once they get the part.

Good to hear a Yellow Hammer calling as we had a longish walk waiting for the prognosis.

Hag Lane.

I had another look at Hag Lane hoping for a more definite view of MY Tree Pipit but I could not relocate the bird.

I've been trying to match up the bird's call on my video with some on the internet but have not been successful.

My initial Tree euryopia is fast disappearing being replaced by Meadow, I'm sorry to say.

So a Calderdale Tree Pipit tick remains outstanding alas.

A definitive photo - a good view of the bill and hind claw, in good light  - would be very nice indeed, but that will have to wait till next time!!

It's fairly easy to remove egg from around the face - I'm becoming quite adapt at it.

After loitering about hoping for a return of the Pipit,
Hag Lane was very quiet , with a calling Green Woodpecker, top of the shop.

The wind got up and drizzle came making me head for the car to look for some Kleenex Tissues - Boo-Hoo.

Today's Meadow Pipit

  1. No egg on face John. You have to give it a go. Meadow Pipits do have another soft 'tsip' call usually (I think) a bit of anxiety and usually when perched. There are always some 'might have been's' that just get away from us. Poor afternoon at Ogden for me doing Back Lane and White Wall End and the woodland but I didn't do the reservoir.
